Plot Summary and Character Descriptions
Set during Christmas 1183, James Goldman’s The Lion in Winter centers on the scheming and power struggles between King Henry II Plantagenet of England (and at this time half of France), his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine, their children and their guests as the king prepares to name an heir. Packed with snappy dialogue and verbal barbs, the play is like HBO’s Succession with a sprinkle of history, fewer swears, and a real kingdom at stake! Read more >>>
